The Minnesota Wild have locked in their biggest star for the long term, announcing an eight-year, $136 million contract extension with forward Kirill Kaprizov. The deal kicks in for the 2026–27 season and will run through 2033–34.
Since joining the NHL in 2020, Kaprizov has become the face of the franchise. In 319 games, the 28-year-old has produced 386 points, including 185 goals and 201 assists. He also owns 62 power-play goals and 27 game-winning strikes, making him one of the league’s most dangerous offensive threats.
Kaprizov already sits at the top of the Wild’s all-time charts in points per game (1.21), goals per game (0.58) and overtime goals (10). He’s also the fastest player in team history to reach the 50-point mark in a single season, doing so in just 34 games.
During the 2024–25 campaign, he notched 56 points in 41 regular-season games, then added nine points in six playoff appearances. His breakout years have set multiple club records, including single-season points (108 in 2021–22), goals (47 in 2021–22) and power-play points (41 in 2023–24).
A three-time NHL All-Star and winner of the 2021 Calder Trophy, Kaprizov ranks among the league’s elite scorers. Since his debut, only Auston Matthews and Leon Draisaitl have averaged more goals per game.
The deal ensures Minnesota’s cornerstone player will remain in St. Paul through his prime years, anchoring the Wild’s push to contend in the Western Conference.
