Amanda Anisimova produced a gritty comeback on Tuesday in Beijing, overturning a slow start to beat Karolína Muchová and book her spot in the China Open quarterfinals.
The American dropped the opening set 1–6 but quickly settled into her rhythm, levelling the contest with a 6–2 response. In the deciding set, she broke Muchová late in the ninth game before holding serve to close out a 1–6, 6–2, 6–4 victory.
The result gives Anisimova her seventh quarterfinal appearance of the 2025 season. Since June, she has collected 23 match wins, second only to world No. 1 Iga Świątek during that span.
Head-to-head, the 23-year-old now leads Muchová 2–0. Their only previous WTA meeting came at the 2022 French Open, when the Czech was forced to retire while trailing.
Anisimova will next face either Jasmine Paolini or Marie Bouzková in the last eight as she continues her strong campaign in Beijing.
